MODEL OF THE MONTH - June 2007 - Rebecca

.:: Ravishing Rebecca ::.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Gunnedah, which is about 45mins west of Tamworth (you know, the town with the big golden guitar and country music festival) and moved to Ballina when I was 12.

What was it like growing up in the country?
I loved growing up in the country — I experienced a lot of things that people growing up on the Coast would’ve missed out on. I actually rode a sheep before I rode a horse! And we always had kangaroos and koalas running through our school. It was a shock for me when I moved to Ballina. I had no idea where all the kangaroos and koalas had gone!

What do you love most about being on the Coast?
I’m only 20 minutes away from Byron Bay, which I honestly believe has the most amazing beaches I’ve seen in my life! The cruisy lifestyle always gets the best of me, and we’re close to places like the Gold Coast and Brisbane if we need to get a city fix.

I understand you are in the States right now. What brings you there?
My trip to the States was definitely a last minute plan! I’m out here for a few reasons, mainly to develop as a person and live life! I definitely felt a strong desire to experience something new and break away from my routine life, and so far I’m having the most amazing experience! I’m meeting people who I never in my life thought I’d meet, and doing things that I’d never thought would happen to me.

How’d you find the Wet’N Wild Calendar Shoot?
The Wet ‘n’ Wild shoot was a lot of fun, and very fast! We shot at the ‘Spit’ at the Gold Coast just before sunset. The shoot only lasted about 2hrs and I’m used to all day shoots, so it was definitely a new experience for me! Luckily for me the photographer was extremely helpful and directed me throughout the shoot.

What’s the strangest place your modelling career has taken you?
Mexico! I did a shoot on Isla Mujeres, which is a small island 10km off Cancun. We stayed for 8 days and unfortunately it was raining for 6 of them. However, the whole experience was amazing!  The locals were also very accommodating. The living conditions of most of the locals were quite shocking — it really made me appreciate everything I have. The beaches and views were incredible however! I truly felt like I was in paradise.

What did you get up to while you were there?
We spent most of the time eating fresh seafood and sipping pina coladas on the beach waiting for the weather to clear up. We ended up shooting on the seventh day of our stay on a small, secluded beach. It was a crazy shoot - there were tiny creatures in the sand that were biting away at me throughout the whole shoot! I really wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather so I tried to ignore them (besides, I didn’t want to be whinging through the shoot) but after the shoot I was bleeding from my stomach to my legs. We zoomed in on the photos later on from the shoot and you could actually see the little critters all over my legs!

Ouch! You sound like a true battler! What do you do to keep in shape?
I used to go to the gym and do weights about three-to-four times a week, but I started getting bored with the gym, so a few months ago I hired the help of a great local personal trainer to help me out. He’d actually trained me previously for the ‘Pumped Up Downunder’ shoot, and it was the best my body had ever looked! I see him once a week for an hour-and he makes me work hard!! He definitely pushes me to my limit. We mainly do cardio work-stairs, running, boxing.

Do you follow a strict diet? Tell us about your eating habits?
I have the biggest sweet tooth you could imagine! I’m quite big on chocolate — there’s this amazing chocolate factory in Byron Bay that I’m quite fond of! They hand-make these beautiful chocolate truffles - my favourite would be the Bailey’s Irish Cream truffle or 85 per cent Dark Chocolate truffle. I’m pretty healthy otherwise. I usually munch on fish, salads, vegetables, yoghurt, granola and sushi... but, I always find room for dessert! I don’t believe in deprivation — you only live once!

If you could rule the world for a day, what would be the first thing you would do?
I don’t think I could think of one thing I’d do first — there are a lot of things going on in this world that would need to be addressed!

Are you dating someone at the moment?
I just came out of a long-term relationship. Although I’ve met a lot of people, I’m not ready for dating just yet.

Describe your dream job to us?
My dream job would be a job where I don’t feel like I’m working.

What type of music do you listen to?
I love hip-hop and RnB music.

What do you do to chill out?
I love being social with friends and family, they mean the world to me! I also love running-my trainer has me hooked!

If you could be any animal, what would it be?
Probably a monkey — they’re intelligent, fun and very social animals.

Are there any other secret talents the world is yet to see?
I can bake a great cheesecake! IM
