media information |
The
Magazine
Since its launch in 1984, Blitz
Australasian Martial Arts Magazine has become
the leading martial arts publication in Australia.
On a monthly basis, Blitz Magazine covers both
the domestic and international scene, self-defence
strategies, fitness advice, combat psychology
and the ever-popular action entertainment genre.
Blitz Magazine also boasts unrivalled coverage
of the latest events, news, and interviews and
feature articles on the world's great martial
artists. The magazine’s history and its
staff’s passion for all things martial
arts make it the ultimate read for martial arts,
action and combat sports enthusiasts.
The Market
Although the martial arts have
been around for hundreds of years, the industry
has grown significantly over the past decade
with over 300,000* practising participants in
Australia alone.
An increasing awareness of personal safety issues
has led many to pursue tuition for self-defence,
with a style to suit everyone’s needs,
men, women & children alike.
Sport martial arts have also seen a huge influx
of participants. Since its inclusion at the
Sydney 2000 Olympics and the success of our
medal-winning team, Taekwondo in Australia has
boomed and now has over 100,000 participants,
many in pursuit of the Olympic dream.
With literally hundreds of martial arts styles
to choose from, each with their own clothing,
protective gear, equipment, books and videos,
this is a market on the move.

Action
Entertainment
Martial art films have attracted
a huge following since Bruce Lee captivated
audiences in the early ’70s, and continue
to meet society’s demand through present
day martial artists including Jackie Chan, Jet
Li , Steven Seagal and Van Damme.
The popularity of action titles featuring fight
sequences has seen the likes of The Rock, Vin
Diesel and Uma Thurman brushing up on their
martial art skills for the big screen.
Action films have become one of the most popular
genres to come out of Hollywood in recent years.
Blitz has grown with this trend, working with
the major film studios to provide our readers
with the most recent and up to date news and
reviews on the latest Hollywood action blockbusters,
including feature articles, regular movie news
column and reader giveaways.
